Ministry of Agriculture
When General P. Piboonsongkram became the Prime Minister,
the Ministry of Kasettrathikarn was changed to Ministry
of Agriculture. The Department of Agriculture was changed
to Department of Farming. The name of Department of
Livestock and Vehicle Animals was changed to the Department
of Livestock. The Department of Kasetsart University
was set up and was later transferred to be under the
Prime Minister's Office.
The Department of Cooperative was separated and promoted
as the Ministry of Cooperatives in 1952. Rice Division
under the Department of Farming Affairs was promoted
as the Department of Rice. The Department of Farming
Affairs was renamed as the Department of Farming. The
Department of Fisheries Affairs was renamed as the Department
of Fisheries while the Department of Livestock Affairs
was renamed as the Department of Livestock. The Department
of Irrigation and the Department of Chemical Farming
was transferred to the Ministry of National Development
soon after the new ministry was established.
Moreover, the Department of Agriculture Promotion was
established to support national agriculture promotion
policies. At the same time, the Dairy Farming Promotion
Organization of Thailand was founded with the technical
support from the Danish government.
