  • Introduction

    The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (MOAC) has an authority specified by the Act of Bureaucratic Administration (issue no.4) year 2000, section 7, clause 18 that authorizes the MOAC to administer the agriculture, water resources provision, irrigation, promotion and development of farmers and cooperative system, including manufacturing process and agricultural products as well as other issues, as required by law under the responsibility of the MOAC or other governmental agencies in the MOAC.

    Scope and Responsibility of MOAC

    The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives was established on April 1, 1892. It is responsible for all agricultural affairs from basic plantation to agricultural economics and cooperatives. The activities of the Ministry are divided into four clusters, namely;

    • Operational cluster (Office of the Permanent Secretary, Office of Agricultural Economics, National Bureau of Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards)
    • Product development cluster (Department of Fisheries, Department of Livestock Development , Rice Department, Department of Agriculture and The Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture)
    • Agricultural resources management cluster (Royal Irrigation Department, Land Development Department, Department of Royal Rainmaking and Agricultural Aviation, Agricultural Land Reform Office)
    • Farmers and cooperatives production and development cluster (Cooperatives Promotion Department, Cooperative Auditing Department and Department of Agricultural Extension)
